A moisturizer has three moves: put water into the bricks, replace the glue between them, or seal the wall. This cream does all three, gently. Glycerin pulls water in, ceramide NP is the glue, squalane and dimethicone are the light seal, which is why it disappears instead of sitting on the surface.

Niacinamide is the interesting part. It does not add fats; it increases how many ceramides skin makes for itself, so the barrier rebuilds from inside as well as topping up from outside. That is how the cream works while staying this light.

The box says non-comedogenic. That term is not regulated in the United States — no legal definition, no required test. The cream contains myristyl myristate, which scored the maximum on the old comedogenicity scale, though those ratings came from rabbit ears and translate poorly to human faces. It is not a prediction that this will clog you — it means the badge is not evidence either way.

The outer layer, and the only one anything in a jar reaches. It renews itself constantly: a cell made at the bottom takes about a month to reach the surface and flake off. Most of what a skincare product does, it does here.

The living layer underneath, holding the blood vessels, the nerves and the collagen. It is where lasting change happens and it is hard to reach: most of what is sold for the skin never gets this far.
