Eucerin UreaRepair Plus is a fragrance-free lotion for very dry, rough body skin, about $20 in Europe. It is a moisturizer, not a treatment, and it is not sold in the United States — in America you buy it from an importer.

Urea is the active, at 5% or 10% depending on the box, and the name does not tell you which. Urea is one of the skin's own natural moisturizing factors, so this tops up something your barrier already makes. It adds ceramide NP, one of the fats holding surface cells together, plus glycerin, lactate and amino acids.

Your skin makes its own humectant. Natural moisturizing factor — amino acids, urea, lactate and salts — sits inside the outer cells and holds water there so they stay plump. Dry, rough skin is short of it. Urea is not a foreign additive; it is a refill.

UreaRepair Plus is built on that. Urea at 5% or 10% pulls water in, lactate, glycerin and amino acids add more of the same mixture, and ceramide NP works on the glue between cells. It does two of the three moisturizer jobs; sealing is left to something else.

Urea at these strengths is well studied for very dry skin, and this is a good version. But it is not automatically the best pick — a 2025 trial found a modern emollient plus beat 10% urea on barrier measures in mild-to-moderate eczema.
