Naturium Azelaic Acid Derivative Complex contains no azelaic acid. Its active is potassium azeloyl diglycinate, a different, water-soluble molecule, and azelaic acid's evidence for rosacea and breakouts does not transfer to it. Naturium renamed the product to say so, which was honest. If you want azelaic acid, buy it at a stated 10% or 15%.

Good fitReal azelaic acid stings most people for the first few weeks and plenty give up. The derivative here is water-soluble and does not sting, so it is the version reactive skin can actually wear.

Azelaic acid earned its reputation by doing three things: quieting the inflammation behind rosacea, killing acne bacteria, and blocking tyrosinase, the enzyme that makes melanin. Those findings were made with azelaic acid itself, at 15 or 20 percent.
This product contains a different molecule. Potassium azeloyl diglycinate is azelaic acid bonded to two glycine units, which makes it dissolve in water. That is why the serum is smooth and does not sting, and also why the parent ingredient's evidence does not carry across.
What the bottle does have is niacinamide, with solid evidence for barrier strength, oil control and pigment. If real azelaic acid defeated you on grit or stinging, this is a reasonable gentle alternative — just not the same ingredient, and the 10 percent refers to the derivative.
