Letybo vs Jeuveau

Letybo and Jeuveau are both frown-line injections, and they compete mostly on price. Both are botulinum toxin type A, given as 20 units in a few small shots. Jeuveau was tested head to head against Botox and did about as well. Letybo was tested against a placebo, and nobody has compared the two brands to each other.

What it is

Letybo

Botulinum toxin type A

The newer of the two in the US. It arrived in 2025.

Jeuveau

Botulinum toxin type A

In use in the US since 2019.

What you actually get

Letybo

20 units for frown lines

A few small shots across the frown area. How many depends on how your injector maps your muscles.

Jeuveau

20 units for frown lines

The same dose, given the same way.

What it was tested against

Letybo

Placebo, in three trials

Success rates ran from 47% to 65% across the three.

Jeuveau

Botox, head to head

Jeuveau did about as well as Botox at the same 20-unit dose. That is the strongest head-to-head evidence in this group.

The at-home or drugstore version

Letybo

No home version

Letybo has to go into a muscle. The "Botox in a bottle" serums sold at drugstores sit on the surface of the skin. They cannot reach a muscle several millimetres down.

Jeuveau

No home version

The same is true of Jeuveau. Nothing sold over the counter puts a toxin into a muscle.

Who tends to be happy with it

Letybo

  • Best for — Frown lines, wherever it is offered at a good price.
  • The mindset — You are fine with the newer arrival.

Jeuveau

  • Best for — Frown lines, for people who want the longer US record.
  • The mindset — You want the one that has been measured against Botox.

Can you compare their numbers?

Letybo

Not really, and Letybo's own trials show why. The same product, at the same dose, produced success rates from 47% to 65% across its three trials. The drug did not change. What differed was who took part, and where.

Jeuveau

Jeuveau's trial is the exception. Botox and Jeuveau were tested in the same study at the same time, so that comparison is real. It just was not built to crown a winner.

The fine print

Letybo

Letybo is letibotulinumtoxinA-wlbg, made by Hugel in South Korea. It was approved in the US in 2024 and launched in 2025. Jeuveau is prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs, made by Evolus, and was approved in the US in 2019. Both are botulinum toxin type A in a protein complex of about 900 kDa. Units are brand-specific and are not interchangeable between brands.

Letybo's approval rested on three trials against placebo, about 1,270 people in total. Jeuveau's main trial included a Botox comparison group alongside a placebo group. Both routes are enough for FDA approval.

Common questions

Questions Patients Ask

Is there any real difference between Letybo and Jeuveau?

Very little on paper. Both are cosmetic-only, both use 20 units for frown lines, and both are protein complexes of similar size. The clearest difference is that Jeuveau was tested directly against Botox and Letybo was tested against a placebo.

Which one is cheaper?

Both compete on price, so the difference is usually small and depends more on the clinic than the brand. Ask for the price of the whole treatment.

Did Jeuveau beat Botox in its trial?

No, and it was not designed to. The trial was built to show Jeuveau was not worse than Botox. Jeuveau's number came out slightly higher, but that gap is not a meaningful result.

Is Letybo approved for anything besides frown lines?

Not in the US. The same is true of Jeuveau — both are cosmetic-only products.

Which one lasts longer?

Neither label states a duration, and the two have never been compared. In practice, botulinum toxin treatments generally last about three to four months.

Can either be used on the forehead?

Injectors do use both there, but it is off-label for both. In the US, neither is approved beyond frown lines.

Which safety warning should I know?

Botulinum toxin can cause drooping or weakness. Seek urgent care for trouble swallowing or breathing. Discuss the specific product’s warnings with your injector.
