The evidence gap, explained plainly

Daxxify

Daxxify was tested against a placebo. That is enough to earn FDA approval, and it tells you Daxxify works. It does not tell you how Daxxify stacks up against other brands on the market.

Jeuveau

Jeuveau was tested against Botox. One group got Jeuveau, one got Botox, and one got a placebo. Both real products beat the placebo by a wide margin. Jeuveau performed comparably to Botox.

That trial was built to show Jeuveau was not worse than Botox. It was not built to show it was better. Jeuveau's number came out slightly higher. That gap is not a win, because the study was never designed to find one.

Does Daxxify really last twice as long as Jeuveau?

There is no trial comparing the two, so that claim cannot be checked. A published analysis of Daxxify's trials reported a median of about 24 weeks — half the people treated still had none-or-mild frown lines at that point. Jeuveau's label gives no duration figure at all. Those are different measurements from different studies.

Which one is cheaper?

Jeuveau was launched as the value option and generally prices below the premium brands. Daxxify launched high and cut its price within about a year. Compare the cost of the whole treatment, not the price per unit — Daxxify uses 40 units and Jeuveau uses 20, so per-unit prices are meaningless side by side.

Is Jeuveau just a cheaper Botox?

It is a different product made by a different company, and it was tested directly against Botox in a large trial where it performed comparably. In the US it is approved for cosmetic use only.

Why does Daxxify need 40 units and Jeuveau only 20?

Each brand measures units with its own laboratory method. The numbers are not on the same scale and cannot be converted. A higher unit count does not mean a stronger product.

Is either approved for forehead lines?

No. In the United States both are approved only for the frown lines between the eyebrows.

Does Daxxify contain human blood products?

No. It is stabilised with a lab-made peptide instead of human serum albumin. Jeuveau contains albumin, as most brands do.

Which safety warning should I know?

Botulinum toxin can cause drooping or weakness. Seek urgent care for trouble swallowing or breathing. Discuss the specific product’s warnings with your injector.
