Daxxify vs Xeomin

Daxxify is the toxin sold on lasting longer. Its formulation uses a peptide excipient rather than human serum albumin. That formulation difference alone does not predict an individual result. Xeomin is the stripped-down toxin. The extra proteins that come packaged with the other brands have been taken out, leaving only the active part. Both soften the same lines in the same way, so the real question is how often you want to be back in the chair.

What it is

Daxxify

Toxin held by a peptide

The active drug is the same family used in every wrinkle injection. What is different is the carrier around it. Daxxify uses a peptide rather than human albumin.

Xeomin

Toxin with nothing extra

Every toxin is made with accessory proteins attached. Xeomin has them removed. That is why it gets called the naked toxin.

What it actually does

Daxxify

Relaxes the muscle under the line

It blocks the nerve signal telling a facial muscle to contract. The skin above stops folding, so the crease softens.

Xeomin

Relaxes the muscle under the line

The same mechanism, in the same places. In the face there is no meaningful difference in how the two work.

How long until it works

Daxxify

A few days to start

Some people feel movement easing within two days. Judge the result at about two weeks, not before.

Xeomin

A few days to start

Same timeline. Two weeks is when you know what you have.

How long it lasts

Daxxify

Marketed as longer than the others

This is Daxxify's whole pitch. Some people do get noticeably longer out of it. Others get much the same as any other toxin.

Xeomin

Around three to four months

The normal range for a toxin. Some people run a little shorter, some a little longer.

What it will not do

Daxxify

Nothing for loose skin

It treats lines made by movement. Sagging jowls, a loose neck and sun damage are untouched.

Xeomin

Nothing for loose skin

Same limit. A toxin works on muscle, not on skin that has descended.

The downside

Daxxify

Long is only good if you like it

If the result sits wrong — a heavy brow, an uneven smile — you wait it out. A longer-lasting toxin means a longer wait.

Xeomin

No stand-out drawback

The usual toxin trade-offs apply. A shorter run also means a shorter wait if you dislike it.

Cost

Daxxify

Usually priced above the others

Often sold as a flat treatment price rather than per unit, on the argument that you come in less often.

Xeomin

Usually among the cheaper toxins

Commonly priced per unit, like Botox. Ask what a full treatment of your areas comes to, not what one unit costs.

Who each suits

Daxxify

  • Best for — Someone who dislikes frequent appointments and wants fewer of them.
  • The mindset — You are confident you like how you look on toxin already.

Xeomin

  • Best for — Someone new to toxin, or anyone who has reacted to other brands.
  • The mindset — You want the simplest formula and a shorter commitment.

What "lasts longer" is worth, and what it costs you

Daxxify

Longer duration is Daxxify's reason to exist, and it is a fair claim to make. It is designed for it, and the clinical work behind it reports longer results than a typical toxin.

What the "naked" toxin means for you

Xeomin

Xeomin has the accessory proteins removed. Those proteins are part of how the toxin is naturally packaged and they do nothing useful once injected.

Common questions

Questions Patients Ask

Is Daxxify really better than Xeomin?

Neither is better as a drug. They relax the same muscles the same way. Daxxify is designed to last longer, and Xeomin is the simplest formula with no accessory proteins, so the better one depends on which of those you want.

How much longer does Daxxify actually last?

It is sold on lasting longer than a typical toxin, and for many people it does. Real-world duration varies a lot with dose and with your own metabolism, so some people notice a clear difference and some notice almost none.

Can I switch from Xeomin to Daxxify?

Yes. Injectors move people between toxins routinely. The dose is not the same between brands, so your injector will work out a new one rather than copying your old unit count across.

Why is Xeomin called the naked toxin?

Because the accessory proteins that normally come packaged with botulinum toxin have been removed. Only the active part is left. The idea is that fewer added proteins may mean less chance of your body learning to resist the drug over time.

What happens if I do not like my Daxxify result?

You wait for it to wear off. No toxin can be reversed. That is the real trade-off with a longer-lasting product, and it is the main reason to try a shorter-acting toxin first if you have never had one.

Do I need more units of one than the other?

Units are not interchangeable between brands. A unit of Daxxify and a unit of Xeomin are not measuring the same thing, so compare the price of a full treatment of your areas instead of the price per unit.

Which safety warning should I know?

Botulinum toxin can cause drooping or weakness. Seek urgent care for trouble swallowing or breathing. Discuss the specific product’s warnings with your injector.
